1.
A stable level foundation of 3" concrete is preferred. Good paving on road base would be
OK.

Check that foundation is stable before setting out the base course. If foundation is not level, you could lay a bed of 10:1 sand and cement (dry) to level the foundation. Proceed to lay the base course as per the plan supplied. It is important that the base course be laid correctly.

Important: Before laying the first course, you will need to consider where the gas line comes out of the barbecue. In these photos, we have the BBQ on the left hand side. You may need to reverse this to suit the different types of BBQ available.

2.
2) Once base course is laid and level, check to make sure that your project is square. Measure one diagonal.
3.
Measure the opposite diagonal and compare the measurements. If they are within 5mm of each other, you may proceed. If not, you must adjust the base course until the measurements come within 5mm of each other.
4.
Complete the base course and start the second course. You can use a rubber hammer to tap bricks into place. These courses are marked A and B on the instruction sheet.
5.
Each brick has a small dimple in one lug on top of the brick (highlighted by black texta in this photo). Where possible, place the dimple on top of the dimple on the course below it. This helps to lock in each brick.
